Contributor Series 9: If Men Had Ears
Wedding DJ Love
By Grace Burns

Song requests and a flirtation or two on the phone
are all I need to start the seduction.
I enter your head to capture your hidden desires
and claim them as my own.

I compose my playlist, my love poem for you.
Its content, rhythm and sequence are meant
to strip away your garbs of proper decorum
and expose your hidden naked party animal.

I long to see you move in ecstasy.
I offer my music to make you writhe and shout
so all that is left when the dancing is done
is a sweaty heap of happiness
and lingering memories of the best night of your life.

Grace Burns’ most recent poem to appear here was This Mother Resolves (April 2011).

  1. I loved this romance with pleasure and excitement. Knowing and unknowing are the rhythm of love.
