It's just poetry, it won't bite

Cracked

John Kaniecki’s poem Clowns appeared here in November 2013.

Cracked
(after Emily Dickinson)
By John Kaniecki

Corporations sophisticated
Peddle illusions
Needless intricacies debated
Delighting deceitful delusions

Treason, treason they scream
As profits soar
They will use any reason
For another war

Wisdom dated a fool
Drunk and naked she opened her eyes
After breaking the golden rule
Not feeling very wise

The mirror isn’t cracked
It’s shattered
We have defiled
Everything that mattered
