Desert Sands Shifts
By Jose Trejo

At these precise moments
mountains blue clouds
shift shape into electricity:

Nahui Calli Izcalli Ome Tochtli
the pen bleeds another time.
This rhyme form is omnipresent:

Mirrors Tezcatlipoca
I am Ixquimilli
the dark one with blinds.

Mirrors smoke
the sun stone.
Calendar is bleeding now.

Temezcalli camouflaged earth tone.
ochre shadows
drawn from dreams.

Surrounded clouds melt
into Macuil–Coatl Izcalli
or serpentine resurgence.

Cut from forest
streams run through
these words.

Yellow–moon hologram
in the jaguars
stealth/
iris.
