Golden Years
By Jeanette Cheezum

While he led the way; she stood erect.
Her frail fingers appeared skeletal
as she wrapped her arm around his.
Keeping an even pace made her feel spry.
Glancing in his direction made her proud.
Envious stares made her daydream of being
young again.

Should she introduce him as her nephew?
Or let the other residents think he’s a lover?
After all, they lived in the past most of the time.

Lovely, so bright and great imagery.

  2. It’s a wonderful poem, especially for those of us old enough to appreciate it deeply. But the young should like it as well if they can catapult themselves into the future which so suddenly comes.

  3. Bobbie Troy says:

Wow, you captured so much here. Love the poignancy. Great job.

  4. Thanks for taking the time to read my poems.
