Am I Lost
By Michael O’Brien

I see the new frost                                   As I touch this new land.
on the ground.                                          I used to mindlessly mine
Am I lost, if                                                 for what they said
I don’t want to be                                      I should find. The spoils of that
found?                                                       crime.
Can no longer fret                                     I will gently
about all I didn’t                                        decline.
pack. And I don’t know                             I was always told
yet. If I’ll let myself                                     about all the gear
turn                                                               I will need to survive.
back .                                                            But the horizon is
I lost every plan                                          clear.
I made.                                                         I’m  here.
They’re dancing in the                              I’m alive.
wind.                                                             I see the new frost
But I’m not                                                   on the ground.
afraid.                                                            Am I lost
And it’s all                                                     if I
starting to feel                                             don’t want to be
like home.                                                     found?
Within, this
freefall.
No longer need
where I’ve been.
I’m where I am.
I’ll proceed
with a
grin.
