Minimal Beauty
By Anna Sanders
As I walk through the kitchen
I stop suddenly
Focusing my attention.
Something in the room is different
So I continue to stare.
I see a small wooden table
A basic piece of furniture
One that I have sat at many times before.
But there’s something different today.
A stark white cloth now covers its surface
A small silver bowl sits on top
With three ripe pears nestled within.
A perfectly crafted steel knife
rests lengthwise across the bowl
A dramatic contrast to the gentle curves
And soft texture of the succulent fruit.
Another object catches my attention.
A clear glass vase sits next to the bowl
Boasting no adornment
That might distract from its contents.
A carefully arranged bouquet
Of delicate white blossoms
Captures the essence of the display.
A hint of Jasmine perfumes the air
Adding a refreshing sweetness to the room.
How beautiful! I didn’t know of your poetic talent. Love it!
