Our Tunnel Vision Aereates Upscale Lawns
By Ed Zahniser
April is National Poetry Month, whereas
every May through March, like moles and voles
we poets bicker nonstop underground to hold forth
for the formal, the open form, or the denotation-free
l=a=n=g=u=a=g=e poem someone theorized would
work like a Mark Rothko colorist blend. Nevertheless,
All things pass into working for free, as though wishful
thinking might create a market economy for poetry
based on consumer spending by volunteers,
unpaid interns, and the long-term unemployed.
