Robert and Walt in the Dark

Darkness steals over, sudden blinded
flash of night at bedside.
Frost and Whitman
disappear
become fodder for the faithful
who trust in things unseen.

Head scooching,
nests into pillow
as best it can without paws,
settles content enough
into leaves of grass.
