Laura Zucca-Scott’s most recent poem to appear here was “Rusty Wind” (May 2016)
Like Old Sailors
By Laura Zucca-Scott
The road is burnt
Under the unforgiving sun
Tired and weary
We look ahead
Like old sailors
Marked by the salt
And years at sea
We keep going
Despite the distance
Despite the hurt and strife
We smile
Out in the open
We are free again
Another road
Another life
Have a safe trip.
Love the second stanza.
