Searching for Home
By Diane Sciacchitano

Cats claim to  have nine lives
Keeping track of which one I’m in –
A dilemma
No mirror to glimpse my reflection
But knowing
I am beautiful
I have been lost
I have been found
I have hunted
I have conquered
Now solo I turn the corner
Sighting a porch I station myself
I cry out pitifully for food and shelter
Once again – kindness abounds
Another life to live
Another chance to be loved
A lap to “purr” in
Finally home
