Shhhhhhhhhhhhh.
By Pamela Sinicrope
Silence surrenders
to singing chickadees
and chittering squirrels
who circle up the closest elm
before landing on an evergreen.
Chestnut rot wafts
through the window, permeating
like a cooling apple pie that signals
Autumn’s start.
The sparkling sun can be heard
in a sparrow’s call
octaves above human hums.
Senses mix,
spiralling up and out with
ombred leaves
that wind a path to
hollow pumpkins
grinning
from every doorstep.
Like this a lot
You’ve painted a beautiful picture of fall.
I agree. Lovely.
