Nate Spears’ most recent poem here was Soul Food, and it was published as part of Contributor Series 8: Feast and Famine. In case you haven’t heard, Nate’s book Inspiration 2 Smile is inspiring smiles all over the place and it can be had in printebook, or audiobook versions, just pick your poison! How’s Nate been celebrating National Poetry Month? He’s been working on his second book of poetry. It’s going to be good, but that’s all I can say about it at this time … so stay tuned for news on that as it develops.

Sixty
By Nate Spears

That morning I took sixty pills
I wanted to die.
It only took sixty seconds
To give a hug and say hi.
Sixty seconds.
God descended from the sky
With sixty angels
To revive my life.
One minute you’re here.
One minute you’re gone.
It only takes sixty.
