Never Enough Time to Write

there is never enough time
to write poetry
or other creative stuff
even if my life
were without illness and pain

I jot down thoughts
when I have a moment
like a woman saving diamonds
in the rough
to savor and polish them
when nighttime falls
and my mind is relaxed
