To A Muse
By Susan Davis Gabbay

Come, lady Muse
Come away from study
Or contemplation, or
Feasting with your sisters.
I, your devotee, seek
Inspiration. I do not
Demand epic, nor yet
Classic rhyme. In return
I offer lifetime allegiance—
and a golden apple
From the Hesperides
As soon as I find one.
