True love (Hindi title: Sachchaa pyaar)
Translated from Hindi
By Sushant Supriye

O dear
I say—
I love you truly.
But you want proof
that I love you truly.

So listen, love.
Put me to a lie-detector test.
Then you will know
that my love for you is true.
Or else
put my tears
shed in your name
in a test-tube.
Examine them
under electron microscope.
You will find in those tears
my infinite love-lorn atoms for you.

What more proof
of my love being true
can I give to you
in this concrete jungle
cradling a generation of
test-tube babies?
