It's just poetry, it won't bite

Where are all the poems?

Where are all the poems?
By Nicole Yurcaba

The carefully syllabled haiku
penned one arctic January afternoon,
post-squirrel hunting?

A metered March sonnet

written frantically

following fevered lovemaking

on the farm pond’s fresh greenness?

The bob-and-wheel (penciled mid-August),

mimicking a decrepit tractor’s

sluggish chug?

September’s sestina recalling summer’s

catfishing nights,

barn floor make-outs,

three AM pickup truck rides?

Penned, forgotten in journal #113’s pages.

Written on a wrinkled feed receipt; tossed into, shredded by the NDE feed grinder.

Stashed in jean pockets; destroyed in the borax-laden wash water.

Yet to be written.
