Wild Flower
By Nate Spears

Rescue this sunflower that’s capable of being a ray of light.
Nurture it.
Its petals are in need
of the best kind of love.

A wild flower it is, but delicate too.
The facts of its species remain unknown,
How it came into existence is undetermined.

The roots of my magnificent creation show trauma.
Its presentation makes potential caregivers hesitant.
This is a thing of beauty, but
No one’s prepared to chance its care.

Our roots sprout from above.
We all need nurture,
a kiss, and a touch of love.

He who doesn’t display an element of wild flower is artificial,
stuck in Styrofoam surrounded by fake moss and dust.
Artificial flowers can never bear life.
Souls choked with the substance of abuse
Can never be cut with nice.
