Once I Had a Younger Lover
By Frieda Landau

When I am old and body and memory start to fail,
I will smile a secret smile because I once had a younger lover.
My eyes will light as I remember his hard young body over mine,
His strong caresses by turns urgent and gentle as he held me.
His hardness deep inside me in the primal rhythm
Until I called his name in a rush of pleasure so intense
I could only collapse, breathless, in his arms and
Sleep within the shelter of his love.
The memory will keep me warm as I wait for that cold good night.
