Missing Snowdrop
By Elizabeth Dublin

Maybe it was the persistent snowpack
or the sub-freezing temperatures that would not warm
or the destruction of the ozone (I think that’s a thing, right?).
It could be the manifestation of my mood.

Whatever it is,
my snowdrop has gone missing.
Its white a warmer shade than snow
its yolk a radiant.

Maybe it will return next year.
