I Slide Along a Grounded Sky
By AJ Huffman

searching for something to use
as wings. My body
has become more anchor than aerial
beast. I am defiant
of such physical restraints
by nature. I assume levitation
will succumb to my determination.
Blinking
away doubt, I rub its residue
from my mind. My fingers
scratch wishes into walls
of air. I am bleeding
frustration like feathers.
They pool beneath me, a mirror
of cosmic mocking. I hold
my breath and dive. Dimensional
transgression is granted. I shatter
against remnants of my own possible
tomorrow.
