Food Pleasures
By Stylicia Bowden

Strawberry delight
Red dawn twilight
Succulent chocolate
Fix;
Whip cream
Caramel dip
Apple pie high
Cherry dumpling
Ice cream sweet
Nestled in cookie dough
Full of treats
To satisfy the senses
Of an immeasurable food
Addiction.
Looking through the
Refrigerator to see what else
Is missing,
Maybe a twist of hot cocoa
Engulfed in marshmallows
Marinating the night away
With dreams of self-indulgence
Of my food pleasures.

Stylicia Bowden’s poetry is scheduled to appear at vox poetica in 2011.
